drei-d-w brings 3D printing to your home

drei-d-w.de is an online store that specializes in 3D-printed modular solutions for network equipment. The focus is on products for home networks and smaller professional setups. The main focus is on the organization and professional placement of devices in so-called network racks.

The idea behind it is to bring order to the often confusing network cabling. Many home users who use professional network devices such as those from Ubiquiti UniFi are faced with the problem of installing them properly. This is where the modular system from drei-d-w.de comes into play.

the modular system

The core of the offering is a flexible modular system. It consists of various, mostly 3D-printed components that can be used to mount devices such as routers, switches or single-board computers (e.g. Raspberry Pi) in a 10" or 19" network rack.

The products primarily include:

  • Base plates: Specially manufactured mounts for devices from a wide range of manufacturers (e.g. the Ubiquiti UniFi, MikroTik, Raspberry Pi and many more).

  • Adapters and extensions: Additional parts to combine different devices with each other or to expand functions.

The system is designed so that customers can assemble their own rack unit either with prefabricated configurations ("ready-to-build") or by individually selecting individual parts.

ready-to-build vs. free configuration

At drei-d-w, there are a variety of predefined configurations that can be ordered as ready-to-build units. Nevertheless, many other different combinations of rackmount configurations are conceivable, but not all of them can be offered as ready-to-build configurations. You can now either get creative yourself and put together your rack unit the way you want, I've written you an article that shows you exactly how to do that.
